So, allow me to preface this…
Some of the things stylists wish you knew, we don’t really want you to know. Which may not make sense. For example, sometimes we are thankful when you reschedule. It may be the only chance we get to go to the bathroom that day. (ok, that is not permission to cancel on us!)
And, some of the things stylists wish you knew, you don’t really want to know. For example, what your best friend you referred to us said about your husband. (Yeah, um, don’t ask!)
There are plenty of things that are good to know, and helpful…to US and to YOU. So, join me as I fill you in on one of the biggest little secrets we keep from you and maybe you can relax a bit more with the next stylist you see!
You Are Beautiful.
You roll in all flustered. It was hectic filling your husband in on what all three kids did during the day. Kid #1 needs to do his homework and don’t let him play video games. Kid #2 is at her friend’s house and will be home in an hour. Kid #3 has refused dinner and is having a melt down. The dog won’t come in. And, everything is crazy. You get in the car and it’s on empty. Sigh.
So, you finally arrive at my salon – out of breath and disheveled. “Sorry, Janet, I don’t even know if I showered today.” Know what? It’s ok. Now you have some time. Turn off the phone. Take a breath. Want some Tea? This is your time now. “What are we doing today?” “I don’t know, just fix me. I’m a hot mess.” Oh, but have you looked at yourself lately? I see you. You are my canvas. I feel your heaviness and your joy. And, you are beautiful. So, I mix and paint to sculpt and create. I wash and dry and shape and mold. It looks like work, but it’s pure joy. And then – you it see, too.
What do I wish you knew?
